I am a person who is constantly making lists and goals so I don’t think New Year’s is the only time to make resolutions but it’s definitely a good time to reflect back and evaluate your future dreams and goals. I found my resolutions from last year and it’s funny because a lot of my goals this year are exactly the same. This either means I did not succeed last year or it is a goal that is constantly going to need attention and growth. Some of my specific creative and professional goals I did really great on. I separated my photography brand from my vintage brand and also launched a new portfolio site and blog. I did a lot less work for free and also worked on a lot of really exciting projects I couldn’t even have dreamed I would be working on. I got contracted to do photography for a book put out by a major publisher! I started taking on weddings which was something I had been totally intimidated by for a long time. I got published by a major wedding blog! I met and got to collaborate with so many amazing professionals. In my day job I’ve been able to take on more creative editorial projects which I love. I feel like I’ve really grown as a designer and have a lot of work that I’m excited to share.

As for last year’s personal goals I wasn’t quite as successful ha. First let’s talk about a couple things I did well at. I no longer have a Starbucks addiction and my bank account is thanking me for it! I successfully finished furnishing and decorating my apartment and it has really become my favorite place to be. A big 2014 goal of mine that I didn’t do so well on was to really be intentional about my relationships and to make more time to be with friends. I tend to fill my time with projects and have very little energy left at the end of the day to do social things. I really felt the weight of this over the past year. I went through some really really hard things and felt pretty isolated. To make it worse I didn’t really have much of support system to help me through it. All that to say making relationships and community a priority is going to be HUGE for me this year. I’m still figuring out what that is going to look like but at this point I know that it’s something I need badly and I also know that I have great things to offer other people. I just started reading Make it Happen by Lara Casey and it’s really been helping me to sort through what is important. I’m absolutely thrilled for the new year and a fresh start. Let’s do this 2015!
