Something that has been super inspiring to me this past year is listening to podcasts, audio books and videos while I work instead of just music. Below is a list of a few of my favorite talks and books by some really talented creatives. Enjoy!
1. The Lively Show – This is my all time favorite podcast. Essentially she interviews a lot of creative and entrepreneurial people while encouraging and teaching people to experience joy and really live intentionally. So good. A few of my fav guests include Kelly Lilien of Mrs Lilien, Lara Casey of Southern Weddings, and Jen Gotch of Ban.do but seriously every single episode is pure inspirational gold.
2. Creative Morning Talks – Although I never have time to actually go to Creative Mornings in Phoenix, all of the talks from around the US and world are recorded so you can listen in at home! A few of my fav speakers include designer and stylist Ruthie Lindsey, Bri Emery of DesignLoveFest, and artist Cynthia Morris.
4. Audio books- It’s really hard for me to find/make time to read books but this year I tried audible for the first time and it rocked my world. A few favs so far Amy Poehler’s Yes Please, Tina Fey’s Bossypants, and Ashley Mears’ Pricing Beauty The Making of a Fashion Model (kind of specific to people interested or involved in the fashion industry).
5. Skillshare – These are sometimes hard to just listen to in the background and require a bit more focus and doing actually projects but so many great videos from so many creative professionals and experts. I personally enjoyed Leela Cyd’s series on Food Photography and Katie Rodgers of Paper Fashion’s Basic Watercolors classes.
On a side note, I recently got back into Twitter and like to post links of the things that are inspiring me throughout the week as well as the design and photography projects I’m working on so find me there if you want more inspiration!
