I recently had the opportunity to photograph Miss Sareena Dominguez for Desert Loom again. Sareena is so much fun to shoot and I feel like we always get really great images. She has amazing energy and I love that she loves vintage so much! Did I mention she is a seriously talented musician? Seriously, she’s a goddess. Check her out here. We shot a few vintage dresses as well as some gorgeous jewelry made by my friend Johanna at Harold Jewelry. Serious dream team! I love it all.
SO much has happened in the last couple of months that I haven’t updated my blog. Many photoshoots, local markets, new skillshare classes launched, local workshops, new products created, joining a mastermind group, launching a new portfolio website, a trip to portland, planning a trip to iceland, really cool collaborations with an interior designer and then some! Did I mention I also have a full time job that has nothing to do with any of these things hah. This is probably a huge reason I haven’t updated because I’ve been crazy busy. I’ve been sharing many of these things on my instagram but it’s nice to have a space like this blog where I can share multiple images at a time and more of the stories behind them. With that I wanted to share one of my most recent photoshoots with Miss Kylla wearing some gorgeous velvet pieces from my vintage shop and some insanely cool jewelry from Harold Jewelry. It was an absolute blast to shoot with this little lady and I am really happy with how our images came out!

I recently did a shoot for Desert Loom with my beautiful and talented friend Sareena Domingez. All morning the sky threatened rain and we dealt with some pretty intense wind but it ended up being one of my favorite shoots of the season! Our friends at Tremaine Ranch leant us their space and gorgeous peacock chair + blanket which were completely perfect for the wardrobe we were shooting. My friend Jordin at Gaia Athena leant us some of her gorgeous jewelry which also matched the styling fabulously. All and all it was seriously magical and I am so grateful to have such wonderful and talented friends to make beautiful shoots with!

The last few months have been pretty wonderful and busy and again I have let this blog grow cobwebs. This is just one of the last shoots I did before it got crazy hot in Phoenix with Melis accessories. We had such a fun team for this one and a completely gorgeous backdrop!

Another lookbook shoot for Desert Loom! I know I said I’m only going to do four of these a year (haha yeah right!!) and shoot everything else on mannequins but I’ve been having too much fun with these shoots and also knew that once May 1st hit I wouldn’t be able to shoot in Phoenix for about 5 months due to the intense desert sunshine. This was actually supposed to be my last shoot of the season but it made me pretty excited about shooting so I decided to squeeze one more in this weekend.
This shoot was such a blast and there was something about the sunshine that was absolutely incredible. I really like shooting in areas where you can get multiple types of light and we were totally able to get that this time. I was also able to shoot with some of my absolute favorite people which greatly amps up the fun factor! Jaime and Kerri totally killed it on the 60s style hair and makeup and my two models Mia and Alexis were absolutely stunning. Such a great shoot!
Apparently I’ve been totally slacking on the blog because I’ve been a busy bee trying to get all my shoots in before May! Above is the second lookbook we shot for Desert Loom. Originally I was just planning on doing one lookbook per season to make things a bit easier on myself but since it’ll be way too hot May-September to do any new shoots I wanted to make sure I had lots of pretty images to share on instagram especially throughout the summer. This one was supposed to be a summer lookbook to be released in May but I had too many Spring things I wanted to shoot and was able to get this one on the calendar earlier than expected. Yay! We will be shooting the summer lookbook this weekend and after that I’ll be taking a bit of a break from fashion shoots for the summer which means I’m going to have more time for making macrame and woven pieces, cooking and food styling and doing yoga. Awww yeah summer time! May is pretty much my second “new years” where I reevaluate everything and plan for the fall so even though I won’t be photographing pretty ladies for a few months I’m pretty excited to slow down a bit during the crazy hot Arizona summer.

As mentioned in the previous post I recently launched a new online boutique carrying vintage clothing and handmade macrame and woven pieces! One thing I decided to do different for this business was to shoot every single clothing piece on my mannequin for the shop listings and then do seasonal lookbook shoots highlighting the pieces I’m most excited about. I kind of went back and forth on the decision for awhile because as a consumer I think it’s super helpful to see what clothing is going to look like on a real human but as I business I realized I needed to create a much more sustainable system for myself. I also think in the tiny thumbnails on etsy it’s way easier to see what the item is when it’s shot on a white background and mannequin. That being said here is our very first lookbook shoot highlighting a few of my favorite pieces ! I am so thankful for all gals and guy who helped me put this together! You guys are the best.
Friends, I am so excited to share that the book project I worked 100 Perfect Hair Days with Confessions of a Hairstylist aka Jenny Strebe, is now out!!!! This project was started over a year ago and comprised of about 4 different all day long photoshoots taking pictures of beautiful hairstyles for this book. I am seriously so honored that I got be a part of this and am very grateful for Jenny believing in me enough to help her make her book baby come to life. Everything turned out so well and it is pretty fun to see my photography work in a book put out by Chronicle Books. What!!! So much happiness right now.
